The EU-China Conference on Government Procurement was held on 16 May 2006 in Beijing. The purpose of the conference was for European and Chinese officials, academics and industry representatives to exchange views and introduce recent developments on government procurement policies and practices in their respective jurisdictions.
Yu Guangzhou, Vice-Minister of Commerce and Charlie McCreevy, European Commissioner for the Internal Market, delivered the opening speeches, highlighting China’s recent announcement that it will soon start negotiations on acceding to the WTO’s Government Procurement Agreement.
